What is it?

A three-component (resin, hardener, filler), solvent-free self-levelling polyurethane floor top coat from STP Limited, laid at 1-2 mm over a prepared or primed substrate.

Where is it used?

Food and beverage plants, dairies, breweries, pharmaceutical and hospital floors, laboratories and cold stores where a jointless, washable, chemically resistant surface is required.

Why use it?

It flows out to a smooth, non-porous, monolithic finish that resists food acids, oils and cleaning chemicals, and holds up to thermal shock and low-temperature impact better than a comparable epoxy top coat.

How is it applied?

Blend the resin and filler with a slow-speed spiral mixer until homogeneous, add the hardener, then pour and spread over a primed floor to the target thickness; foot traffic in ~24 hours, full cure in 7 days.

About STP ShaliFloor SL TC 3PU

ShaliFloor SL TC 3PU is STP Limited’s self-levelling polyurethane finish coat, built for facilities where the floor itself is part of the hygiene and chemical-safety regime. It is a genuinely three-part system: a resin (Component A), a hardener (Component B) and a graded filler (Component C) that are combined on site and poured out to a smooth, seamless film. Because it is solvent-free, it cures with negligible odour and no shrinkage voids, which matters when you are working inside an operating food line, a hospital corridor or a sealed cold room. Applied at 1 to 2 mm, it functions as a wearing top coat over sound concrete or over an STP underlay or screed rather than as a thick structural deck in its own right.

What sets the polyurethane chemistry apart is how it behaves at the extremes. The cured floor tolerates rapid temperature swings and low-temperature impact that would chip or craze a rigid epoxy, so it is a natural fit for chillers, blast-freeze aprons and wash-down bays. The surface is jointless and non-porous, so there is nowhere for bacteria, spores or spillage to lodge, and it wipes clean under routine caustic and acid sanitation. For contractors and consultants specifying in Delhi NCR and across India, it is the finish you reach for when a client needs an epoxy-smooth look but with the flexibility, thermal-shock tolerance and food-acid resistance that only a PU can deliver.

The technical insight

The performance comes from the polyurethane backbone. Where an epoxy cures into a hard but relatively rigid network, the PU resin in SL TC 3PU forms longer, more flexible molecular chains, so the film can absorb dimensional movement and thermal cycling without micro-cracking. That flexibility is why the same floor survives a hot wash followed by a cold-store transfer, and why it shrugs off dropped tools and pallet impact at chiller temperatures. The three-component design is deliberate: keeping the graded filler as a separate pack lets the resin stay low in viscosity so it self-levels cleanly, then the filler builds body and abrasion resistance once blended. Being solvent-free means the material cures by chemical reaction rather than by flashing off solvent, so there is no film porosity from escaping vapour and no solvent entrapment under the 1-2 mm layer. The result is a dense, closed surface that reaches roughly Shore D 60 hardness and around 50 N/mm2 in compression, and that presents no open capillaries for microbes or aggressive liquids to penetrate.

Where it is used

  • Seamless finish coat in food and beverage processing halls and bottling lines
  • Dairy, brewery and fermentation floors subject to acidic and organic spillage
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing suites, clean corridors and laboratories
  • Cold stores, chillers and refrigerated warehouse floors exposed to thermal shock
  • Hospital operation theatres, corridors and nursing-home wet areas needing hygienic floors
  • Wash-down and sanitation bays where caustic and acid cleaners are used daily
  • Meat, fish and pickle processing areas with fats, oils and food acids
  • Electronics, textile and light-engineering floors requiring a clean, dust-free surface

Key advantages

  • Solvent-free and low-odour, so it can be laid in occupied or sensitive facilities
  • Self-levels to a smooth, jointless, non-porous surface that is easy to clean and disinfect
  • Higher flexibility than epoxy, absorbing thermal cycling and substrate movement without cracking
  • Strong impact resistance retained at low temperatures, ideal for cold-store service
  • Broad chemical resistance to food acids, oils, diesel, petrol and common cleaning chemicals
  • Dense, hygienic finish with no capillaries for bacteria or spillage to lodge in
  • Reaches foot-traffic readiness in about 24 hours, keeping shutdown windows short
  • Convenient pre-batched 14 kg unit that eliminates on-site proportioning error

Limitations & considerations

  • Applied at only 1-2 mm, it is a wearing top coat, not a structural or heavy-impact screed – very heavy-duty duty needs a PU-cement screed instead
  • Needs a sound, dry, primed substrate; it will not bridge live cracks or mask a weak base
  • Short pot life of about 20 minutes at 30 C demands disciplined mixing and prompt placement
  • Substrate temperature must be held in roughly the 10-35 C window during application and cure
  • Full chemical and mechanical cure takes 7 days, and vehicle traffic must wait about 72 hours
  • Standard PU chemistry can amber or gloss-shift under strong direct UV, so it is intended for interiors

Selection & best practice

Success with SL TC 3PU is decided at the substrate. Prepare the concrete by grinding or shot-blasting to an open, laitance-free profile, make sure it is structurally sound and dry, and prime it with the compatible STP primer so the top coat bonds and does not pinhole. Condition all three components and the working area to the 10-35 C band before you start. Mix the resin and filler first with a slow-speed spiral mixer until fully homogeneous, then add the hardener and blend to complete dispersion – do not aerate the mix. Because pot life is only around 20 minutes at 30 C, blend in workable batches, pour immediately, spread to the 1-2 mm target and de-aerate with a spiked roller. Protect the fresh floor from dust, water and traffic, allow about 24 hours before foot traffic, 72 hours before vehicle loads and the full 7 days before exposing it to aggressive chemicals or wash-down.

Frequently asked questions

Is ShaliFloor SL TC 3PU a screed or a top coat?
It is a self-levelling polyurethane top coat applied at 1-2 mm. It gives the finished wearing surface over a sound, primed concrete floor or over an STP underlay or screed – it is not a thick structural deck. For heavy-impact or thicker build-up you would use a PU-cement screed such as STP ShaliFloor 4 PUS instead.
How is it different from an epoxy self-levelling floor?
Both give a smooth, seamless finish, but the polyurethane chemistry is more flexible. That means SL TC 3PU tolerates thermal shock and low-temperature impact far better than a rigid epoxy, and it resists food acids well, which is why it is preferred in cold stores, dairies and food plants.
How much material do I need per square metre?
Theoretical coverage is about 1.75 kg per square metre at 1 mm thickness, so a 1-2 mm floor consumes roughly 1.75 to 3.5 kg/m² before allowing for surface profile and wastage. Always confirm against a site trial area.
What is the pot life and how quickly can we use the floor?
Pot life is about 20 minutes at 30 C, so mix in workable batches and place promptly. The floor typically takes foot traffic in around 24 hours, vehicle traffic in about 72 hours, and reaches full chemical cure in 7 days.
What surface preparation does it need?
The concrete must be sound, dry and mechanically prepared by grinding or shot-blasting, then primed with the compatible STP primer. Good preparation is essential for bond and a pinhole-free finish; the top coat will not bridge live cracks or fix a weak base.
Can it be used outdoors or in direct sunlight?
It is designed for interior industrial and hygienic floors. Like most polyurethane finishes of this type it can amber or shift in gloss under strong direct UV, so for exposed external decks or UV-critical areas an aliphatic UV-stable topcoat is the better choice.

How we position STP ShaliFloor SL TC 3PU

Within STP’s flooring range, SL TC 3PU is the hygienic self-levelling PU finish. Step up to ShaliFloor SL AS 3PU when the same environment also needs static-dissipative or antistatic performance (electronics, certain pharma and process areas), or to the heavier ShaliFloor 4 PUS polyurethane-cement screed when the floor faces thermal shock plus real mechanical abuse at greater build thickness. For epoxy-based budgets where flexibility is less critical, STP’s ShaliFloor SL TC 4E epoxy top coat is the sibling option. Across our other lines, Space Arc also supplies Fosroc, Sika and Dr. Fixit industrial-flooring systems, so we can match the specification to the duty and budget rather than force-fitting a single product.

Preferred brand · Fosroc equivalent

Fosroc Nitoflor SL3000 UT — Choose the Fosroc PU-cement topping when the floor needs a thicker 3-7 mm build with heavier-duty abrasion and thermal-shock resistance, rather than a thin 1-2 mm resin-rich self-levelling top coat.
