Fosroc Lokfix RA
A fast-setting, two-component polyester resin grout engineered to anchor bolts and bars from 10 to 40 mm diameter into rock strata, where speed of installation and early loading matter most.
What is it?
A pre-measured, two-part polyester resin anchoring grout from Fosroc, formulated specifically for fixing bolts and reinforcement bars into rock and hard strata.
Where is it used?
Rock bolting, ground anchors, foundation bolts, waler beam anchoring and safety-barrier fixings in tunnels, slopes, dams, quarries and civil works.
Why use it?
It gains strength rapidly, resists vibration and corrosion, and is non-expansive, so anchors can be loaded early without splitting the surrounding rock.
How is it applied?
Drill and clean the hole, insert the anchor bar, and inject or pour the mixed two-component resin to fill the annulus around the bar before the resin gels.
About Fosroc Lokfix RA
Fosroc Lokfix RA belongs to the well-established Lokfix family of polyester resin anchoring grouts, but it is tuned for one demanding job: holding steel securely inside rock. It arrives as a two-component system in pre-measured proportions, so the base resin and hardener are combined on site to produce a filled, thixotropic grout that sets quickly and develops high bond strength. Because the chemistry is polyester-based rather than cementitious, it cures without the long waiting periods associated with grouted anchors and does not rely on hydration, which makes it a practical choice for remote sites, night works and jobs on tight programmes.
For engineers and contractors across India, Lokfix RA answers a recurring problem on rock-face and geotechnical projects: the need to install rock bolts, ground anchors and foundation fixings and then load them almost immediately. The resin is non-expansive, so it will not wedge or fracture the host rock the way a mechanical expansion anchor can, and it fully encapsulates the steel to give continuous corrosion protection along the embedded length. Space Arc Engineering supplies Lokfix RA as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator, with delivery across Delhi NCR and pan-India, alongside on-site guidance for drilling, hole preparation and load verification.
The technical insight
The performance of a resin rock anchor comes down to how load transfers from the steel bar, through the cured resin annulus, and into the rock. Lokfix RA works by chemical adhesion and mechanical keying rather than by expansion. When the two components are mixed, the polyester resin begins an exothermic cure that transforms the fluid grout into a rigid, high-strength solid bonded to both the bar and the drilled rock face. Because the grout is filled and non-shrink in behaviour, it maintains intimate contact around the full circumference of the bar, spreading load over the whole bond length instead of concentrating it at a single expansion point. This distributed bond is what gives resin anchors their resistance to vibration and dynamic loading, and it is why they suit blasting environments, rail corridors and machinery foundations. The rapid gain of strength means the anchor can carry design load within hours rather than days, while the non-expansive set protects fissured or jointed rock that a torque-set mechanical anchor might split.
Where it is used
- Rock bolting and slope stabilisation in tunnels, cuttings and quarries
- Permanent installation of foundation bolts and holding-down bolts into rock
- Ground anchors for towers, cranes, masts and transmission structures
- Waler beam anchoring and support of sheet-pile and retaining systems
- Anchoring safety barriers, crash fences and guardrails into rock strata
- Fixing base plates and dock sills onto hard strata
- Dowelling and pinning of reinforcement bars into rock foundations
- Anchoring for dams, spillways and hydraulic structures founded on rock
Key advantages
- Rapid strength gain allows early application of load and faster construction cycles
- Non-expansive set protects fissured or jointed rock from splitting
- Full encapsulation of the bar provides continuous corrosion protection
- High bond strength gives dependable pull-out performance in rock
- Resistant to vibration and dynamic loading from blasting and traffic
- Pre-measured two-component packs reduce site batching errors
- Cures independently of hydration, suiting remote and fast-track sites
- Handles bar diameters from 10 mm up to 40 mm within a single product range
Limitations & considerations
- Polyester chemistry is flammable in the uncured state and needs good ventilation with no naked flames
- Gel and working time shorten in hot Indian ambient conditions, so mixed material must be placed promptly
- Not a substitute for structural epoxy grouts where chemical resistance or very high load is specified
- Standing water in the drilled hole must be removed before injection for reliable bond
- Correct hole cleaning and dust removal are essential; a poorly prepared hole reduces pull-out capacity
Selection & best practice
Drill the hole to the diameter and depth specified for the bar, then clean it thoroughly with a brush and compressed air to remove all dust and debris, since resin bonds to rock, not to loose fines. Drain any standing water before proceeding. Condition the packs to a moderate temperature in hot weather to preserve working time, mix the two components fully to a uniform colour, and place the grout immediately, as gel time is temperature dependent and falls as ambient temperature rises. Insert the bar with a slow rotating action to distribute resin evenly around the annulus and eliminate voids. Keep the anchor undisturbed until the resin has cured, and only apply working load once cure is confirmed for the site temperature. Always keep the material away from ignition sources and work in a well-ventilated area.

How we position Fosroc Lokfix RA
Lokfix RA sits at the rock-anchoring end of Fosroc’s Lokfix resin family. For anchoring into concrete, masonry or brickwork rather than rock, our clients typically move to Fosroc Lokfix (grades S, P and L) polyester resin anchoring grout. Where a project calls for very high load, chemical resistance or performance in damp conditions, an epoxy anchoring resin from the Lokfix range is often specified instead of a polyester grade. For large-volume cementitious anchoring and base-plate grouting, Fosroc’s Conbextra range of non-shrink grouts is the natural companion. Space Arc also supplies comparable resin and cementitious anchoring systems from Sika and MC-Bauchemie, so specifiers can match the exact substrate, load and site conditions rather than force-fit a single product.
