Fosroc Lokfix Dur
Cartridge-applied epoxy-acrylate (styrene) chemical anchoring resin for fast, non-expansive fixing of rebar, threaded rods and bolts into concrete, solid stone and brick.
What is it?
A two-part epoxy-acrylate (styrene-based) reacting resin mortar supplied in a side-by-side cartridge and dispensed through a static mixer nozzle for chemically anchoring metal fixings into masonry and concrete.
Where is it used?
Post-installed anchoring of rebar dowels, threaded studs, anchor rods, threaded collars, railings, brackets and structural profiles into concrete, solid stone, solid brick and hollow brick — indoors or outdoors, in vertical, horizontal and overhead positions.
Why use it?
It cures quickly to develop high pull-out load with no expansion stress on the base material, lets you fix close to edges and corners, and forms a water-impermeable bond around the embedded fixing.
How is it applied?
Drill and thoroughly clean (brush + blow out) the hole, discard the first resin until the colour is uniform, inject from the back of the hole, insert the fixing with a twisting motion, and leave undisturbed until the cure (loading) time for the ambient temperature has elapsed.
About Fosroc Lokfix Dur
Fosroc Lokfix Dur is a cartridge-based chemical anchoring system built on an epoxy-acrylate reacting resin mortar with a styrene base. It belongs to Fosroc’s Lokfix family of bonding and anchoring products, sitting between economical polyester-styrene capsules and the pure-epoxy Lokfix EP/E-series grouts. The resin and hardener are held in separate chambers of a single cartridge and only react once they pass together through the disposable static mixer nozzle, which gives consistent on-site mixing without weighing or hand-blending. The hardened compound grips the wall of the drilled hole and the surface of the steel fixing through pure adhesion, so unlike a mechanical expansion anchor it generates no outward bursting force — this is what lets the system be used near slab edges, in narrow sections and in brittle or hollow substrates without spalling the base material. For Indian site teams, the practical appeal is speed and versatility: one product handles rebar starter bars, threaded rod, anchor bolts and railing posts across concrete, natural stone and both solid and hollow brick. The cartridge format also reduces wastage because a part-used cartridge can be resealed with its cap, or the set mixer simply swapped for a fresh one, and used again up to its expiry date. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies Lokfix Dur as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, and can advise on selecting between Lokfix Dur and the heavier-duty epoxy Lokfix grades for a given load case.
The technical insight
The defining characteristic is the chemistry: Lokfix Dur is an epoxy-acrylate (vinyl-ester-type) resin cured with a styrene-containing reactive system, not a true two-component epoxy and not a simple unsaturated polyester. That places it in the fast-cure, high-bond family of resin anchors. Practically, epoxy-acrylate styrene resins cure faster than pure epoxies — useful when fixings must be loaded the same shift — but have a noticeable styrene odour during curing and a shorter working/gel time that shortens further as ambient temperature rises. Because curing is exothermic and temperature-driven, the gel time (how long you have to seat the fixing) and the loading time (how long before full load can be applied) are both functions of substrate temperature: in Delhi NCR summer conditions the gel time can be very short, while in winter or air-conditioned interiors both gel and cure times lengthen and a minimum substrate temperature must be respected. Hole cleanliness is the single biggest driver of achieved pull-out capacity — dust acts as a bond-breaker, so the drill-brush-blow-brush-blow routine is not optional. In hollow brick or perforated block the resin is normally used with a perforated sleeve (screen tube) so the compound keys into the voids instead of running away. Always size the anchor and embedment to the project’s structural design, and verify capacities against the values in the current Fosroc Technical Data Sheet and any ETA/approval relevant to the supplied grade.
Where it is used
- Anchoring reinforcement starter bars and dowels into hardened concrete for extensions and connections
- Fixing threaded studs, anchor rods and threaded collars for base plates, machine bases and equipment supports
- Securing handrails, balustrades, railing posts and gate posts into concrete, stone or brick
- Installing brackets, cleats, cladding supports and structural steel profiles
- Anchoring into solid natural stone and dressed stone masonry
- Fixing into hollow brick and perforated block using perforated sleeves, where mechanical anchors would split the unit
- Edge and near-corner fixings where an expansion anchor would risk spalling
- General bonding, anchoring and small-scale repair work where a fast-curing resin is preferred
Key advantages
- No expansion force on the base material, so fixings can be placed close to edges and in hollow/brittle substrates without cracking
- Fast cure allows fixings to be loaded relatively quickly compared with pure-epoxy grouts
- High pull-out / load-bearing capacity through adhesive bond to both hole wall and fixing
- Works in vertical, horizontal and overhead orientations, indoors and outdoors
- Forms a water-impermeable bond around the fixing, helping protect the embedded steel
- Cartridge + static-mixer system gives consistent, accurate, pre-proportioned mixing with no site batching
- Part-used cartridges can be resealed or fitted with a new mixer and used until the expiry date, cutting waste
- One product covers concrete, solid stone, and solid and hollow brick — fewer SKUs on site
Limitations & considerations
- Styrene-based: pronounced odour during curing, so ventilation is needed in enclosed spaces and it is less suited to sensitive occupied interiors
- Gel/working time is short and shrinks sharply as temperature rises — fixings must be seated quickly in hot Delhi NCR conditions
- Cure and loading times lengthen in cold conditions and there is a minimum substrate temperature below which it should not be used
- Achieved capacity is highly sensitive to hole cleanliness; inadequate brushing/blowing dramatically reduces pull-out load
- Hollow and perforated substrates generally require perforated sleeves (screen tubes) for reliable performance
- Cartridge resin systems suit individual fixings, not large-volume gap or base-plate grouting — use a Conbextra grout for that
- For the highest sustained loads, elevated-temperature service or critical/seismic applications, a pure-epoxy Lokfix EP/E-series may be specified instead
- Shelf life is limited and storage temperature matters; verify the printed expiry before use
Selection & best practice
Drill the hole to the diameter and depth required by the design, then clean it rigorously — brush with the correct wire brush, blow out dust with oil-free air, and repeat at least twice until the hole is genuinely free of dust. Fit a fresh static mixer and discard the first 8–10 cm of extruded resin until the colour is fully uniform, confirming the two components are mixing. Inject from the back of the hole outward to avoid trapping air, filling roughly half to two-thirds of the hole, then push the fixing in with a slow twisting motion so resin envelops it fully and excess is expelled at the mouth. For overhead or hollow substrates use a perforated sleeve. Do not disturb or load the fixing until the loading (cure) time for the actual ambient/substrate temperature has fully elapsed — allow extra time in cold weather. Always check the current Fosroc Lokfix Dur Technical Data Sheet for the exact gel and loading times, embedment depths and capacities for your temperature, substrate and anchor size; when in doubt, ask Space Arc Engineering for the applicable TDS and a fixing schedule.

How we position Fosroc Lokfix Dur
Within Fosroc’s grouts-and-anchors range, Lokfix Dur is the fast-curing, versatile cartridge anchor — broader substrate coverage than basic polyester-styrene capsules, but positioned below the pure-epoxy Lokfix EP and Lokfix E-series (E35, E45T, E55, E77) specified for the highest sustained loads, low odour and demanding service. For large-volume base-plate, gap or precision grouting it is not the right tool — Fosroc’s Conbextra range (cementitious GP and epoxy EP grouts) should be used there instead. Against competitors, alternatives Indian engineers will recognise include Sika’s chemical anchoring resins (the Sika AnchorFix family) and Hilti’s injectable systems at the premium end, with MYK / MBS, Dr. Fixit (Pidilite) and STP (Shalimar/Asian Paints) offering resin and grout products in the broader market. Honest takeaway: choose Lokfix Dur for a quick-loading, edge-friendly resin anchor that handles concrete, stone and hollow/solid brick with one cartridge; step up to Lokfix EP/E-series or a Sika/Hilti epoxy for heavy-duty, high-temperature or seismic-critical fixings; and always size and verify against the current Fosroc TDS and the relevant approval for the supplied grade.
