Centrament Plast 800
Lignosulfonate-Based Standard Water-Reducing Plasticiser Admixture for Workable Concrete and Mortar
Authorized Project Distributor — MC-Bauchemie India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Centrament Plast 800 is a liquid, lignosulfonate-based, standard water-reducing plasticiser (Type A in ASTM C494 classification, Type B in IS 9103 where combined with mild retarding action) from MC-Bauchemie used as a concrete admixture to improve the workability and pumpability of concrete mixes, to enable water content reduction for improved concrete strength and durability, or both simultaneously. The active components of Centrament Plast 800 are sulfonated lignosulfonates — naturally derived polymers obtained as a by-product of the paper manufacturing industry — that adsorb onto the surface of cement particles (as well as fine aggregate and supplementary cementitious material particles) and impart a negative charge, causing mutual electrostatic repulsion between the cement particles. This electrostatic dispersion disrupts the natural tendency of cement particles to flocculate (clump together in the fresh mix) and releases the water that was trapped within the floccule clusters — making this water available to improve the fluidity and workability of the mix without increasing the total water content. The practical consequence for concrete mix design is that a concrete mix containing Centrament Plast 800 at normal dosage will achieve a 5 to 10 percent reduction in water demand compared to the same mix without admixture — either improving the slump by 50 to 80 mm at the same water-cement ratio, or reducing the water-cement ratio by 0.03 to 0.06 at the same slump (the latter producing improved concrete compressive strength and reduced permeability, the primary drivers of concrete durability in the aggressive Indian climate). Centrament Plast 800 also acts as a mild retarder at normal dosages (extending concrete workability time by 30 to 60 minutes), which is beneficial in the hot Indian summer when rapid slump loss in transit and placement is a significant practical challenge for ready-mix concrete plants in Ghaziabad, Noida, and Delhi NCR. Space Arc Engineering supplies Centrament Plast 800 for ready-mix concrete plants, construction chemical dealers, and concrete contractors across the Delhi NCR region.
Applications
- Ready-mix concrete production — standard plasticiser for improved workability at reduced water-cement ratio in RMC plants in Ghaziabad and Delhi NCR
- Site-batched concrete — workability improvement for conventional site-mixed concrete for slabs, columns, and walls without quality compromise
- Pumped concrete — improved pumpability of concrete for high-rise building construction where long pump lines require low-slump-loss mixes
- Precast concrete production — water reduction for improved compressive strength and surface finish in precast plank, beam, and panel production
- Mass concrete — mild retarding effect extends workability window and reduces heat of hydration by enabling lower cement content at equivalent strength
- Cement mortar and plaster — plasticising admixture for improved workability and reduced water demand in site-mixed mortars and renders
Key Advantages
- IS 9103 compliant — standard water-reducing admixture per Indian concrete admixture specification for structural and civil construction
- Natural lignosulfonate base — derived from renewable paper industry by-product, lower environmental footprint than synthetic polymer admixtures
- Dual benefit — improves workability for placement ease while enabling water-cement ratio reduction for improved strength and durability
- Mild retarding effect — extends concrete workability window in hot Indian summer, reducing slump loss in transit and between batching and placement
- Compatible with all OPC, PPC, PSC cements — suitable for standard Indian cement types without compatibility issues
- Cost-effective standard admixture — economical dosage rate compared to high-range superplasticisers for applications where moderate water reduction is sufficient

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the practical difference in Indian ready-mix concrete production between Centrament Plast 800 lignosulfonate plasticiser and Centrament Nano 500 polycarboxylate ether superplasticiser, and when should an RMC plant in Ghaziabad use one rather than the other?
Centrament Plast 800 lignosulfonate plasticiser and Centrament Nano 500 polycarboxylate ether (PCE) superplasticiser differ in the generation of polymer chemistry used and in the degree of water reduction and workability improvement they can provide, and the choice between them for a ready-mix concrete (RMC) plant in Ghaziabad depends on the concrete grade and performance specification required. Centrament Plast 800 is a first-generation, lignosulfonate-based, standard water-reducing admixture: it achieves water reduction by electrostatic repulsion between cement particles through the adsorption of the negatively charged lignosulfonate polymer on cement particle surfaces. The water reduction achievable is 5 to 10 percent, the workability improvement (slump increase at the same water-cement ratio) is moderate (50 to 80 mm slump improvement), and the concrete mix retains good robustness (relative insensitivity to minor variations in cement content, aggregate grading, and water addition). Lignosulfonate plasticisers are widely used in India for standard concrete grades — M20, M25, and M30 — in housing, commercial building, and civil construction where moderate workability improvement and modest water reduction are needed. The cost of Centrament Plast 800 at the typical dosage of 0.3 to 0.4 percent is lower per cubic metre of concrete than PCE superplasticisers, making it the economical choice for standard construction grades where the additional water reduction of PCE is not required. Centrament Nano 500 is a third-generation, PCE-based, high-range water-reducing admixture (superplasticiser): PCE polymers operate through a combination of electrostatic repulsion and steric (physical) repulsion through the long polyethylene oxide side chains of the comb polymer, and can achieve water reduction of 20 to 30 percent or more — three to four times greater than lignosulfonate. This allows the formulation of very low water-cement ratio concrete (w/c 0.30 to 0.38) at high workability (slump 180 to 220 mm or slump flow 500 to 650 mm for self-compacting concrete), or the production of concrete with very high compressive strength (above M50 or M60 grade) at acceptable workability. PCE superplasticisers are required for high-performance concrete in the following applications that are common in the expanding Delhi NCR construction market: M50, M55, and M60 concrete for high-rise building columns, core walls, and transfer structures in Noida, Gurgaon, and Greater Noida high-rise residential projects; self-compacting concrete (SCC) for bridge and infrastructure elements where vibration access is restricted; high-durability concrete for aggressive exposure conditions (chloride environment, sulfate soils) where a low water-cement ratio is required by the durability specification; pump-mix concrete for very long pump distances (above 200 metres or above 60 metres height) where extended workability and high flow without bleed is critical. The practical recommendation for a Ghaziabad RMC plant: use Centrament Plast 800 for M20 and M25 standard concrete for housing and general commercial construction where moderate workability is needed and water reduction below 0.45 w/c is not specified, and use Centrament Nano 500 for M30 and above concrete where the specification requires w/c below 0.45, for pump mixes requiring extended workability, for SCC or high-flow concrete, and for all high-rise and infrastructure grades where compressive strength above 40 MPa is required. Both products can be used in combination in some cases: Centrament Plast 800 as a base plasticiser and Centrament Nano 500 added at a reduced dose for targeted performance enhancement, though compatibility testing should be conducted before production use. Space Arc Engineering provides admixture trial mix support, dose optimisation, and technical guidance for RMC plants and concrete contractors across Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Uttar Pradesh.
