Conbextra TS
Thixotropic Cementitious Structural Grout for Overhead and Vertical Applications
Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad
Product Overview
Conbextra TS is a pre-bagged, factory-blended, thixotropic cementitious grout from Fosroc specifically designed for grouting applications where the standard fluid grouting approach of Conbextra GP2 or GP3 is unsuitable because of the angle of placement. In conventional pourable grouts, the consistency is sufficiently fluid to flow into and completely fill the gap beneath a base plate — but this same fluidity becomes a problem when grouting is required overhead (for example, pockets in the soffit of bridge decks, overhead anchor bolts in tunnels) or in a vertical orientation (inclined pockets in walls, vertical bolt pockets in rock). Conbextra TS uses a thixotropic (shear-thinning) admixture technology: the grout is stiff and paste-like at rest (it will not flow or slump), but when mechanical energy is applied (by mixing, trowelling, or forcing into a pocket), it temporarily becomes more fluid and workable, allowing it to be packed into cavities. On resting, it returns to its stiff consistency and stays in place. This makes Conbextra TS ideal for anchoring bolts into the soffit of beams, grouting vertical core holes in masonry or rock, and any other application where the grout must resist its own weight in the uncured state. The product is non-shrink, achieves high compressive strength, and is supplied as a ready-to-use powder requiring only the addition of clean water. Space Arc Engineering distributes Conbextra TS for bridge, tunnel, and infrastructure maintenance projects across Delhi NCR and Northern India.
Applications
- Overhead anchor bolt and stud grouting in bridge soffit pockets
- Vertical and inclined bolt pocket grouting in rock and masonry
- Grouting of overhead support brackets and hanger inserts
- Anchor grouting in tunnel linings and underground structures
- Vertical column anchor bolt pockets where fluid grout would run
- Overhead injection into voids where cementitious flow grout is not suitable
Key Advantages
- Thixotropic consistency — stiff at rest, workable under application force
- Non-shrink — expansion compensates for any drying shrinkage
- Achieves high compressive strength after curing
- Pre-bagged factory blend — consistent quality, just add water on site
- No metal aggregate — no risk of surface rust staining
- Suitable for overhead and vertical application without formwork leakage

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Conbextra TS and Conbextra GP2?
Conbextra GP2 is a free-flowing fluid grout that is poured or pumped into formwork to fill the space beneath a base plate or into an upward-facing pocket. It relies on gravity and head pressure to flow and self-level. Conbextra TS is a thixotropic grout that is stiff at rest and must be packed or pressed into the cavity rather than poured. Conbextra TS is used when the application is overhead or vertical and a fluid grout would run out — Conbextra GP2 is used for the vast majority of conventional downward base plate grouting. Both are non-shrink structural grouts from Fosroc.
How do I apply Conbextra TS to an overhead pocket?
For overhead anchor bolt pockets, pack the Conbextra TS into the pocket with a gloved hand or trowel, working it around the bolt and into all corners. The thixotropic nature of the grout means it will flow around the bolt as you work it in, but will return to a stiff state and remain in place once you remove pressure. For deep pockets, a plunger or packing rod can be used to push grout into the back of the pocket. Ensure the pocket is clean, free of dust, and pre-wetted (saturated surface dry) before application. Consult the Fosroc product data sheet for mixing ratios and the minimum pocket depth that can be grouted.
Can Conbextra TS be used for structural bolts that will be torqued to a high load?
Yes. Conbextra TS achieves high compressive strength (typically greater than 40 MPa at 28 days) and provides structural load transfer for high-tension anchor bolts. However, for critical structural fixings, the required bolt embedment depth and edge distances must be calculated by a structural engineer in accordance with the applicable design code. The load capacity of the grouted anchor depends on the embedment depth and the strength of the substrate as well as the grout strength — grouting with a high-strength product like Conbextra TS alone does not guarantee a given pull-out load.
