UltraTech PowerGrout NS1
Single-component, polymer-enriched cementitious precision grout that flows into place without vibration and builds to M100 design strength — made for foundations that cannot wait.
What is it?
A cement-based, polymer-enriched non-shrink precision grout supplied as a ready-to-mix powder. Add water, mix mechanically, and pour — it self-compacts with nil bleeding and nil expansion (ASTM C 940).
Where is it used?
Under machine and turbine base plates, bearing plates, steel column bases, anchor-bolt and dowel pockets, precast connections, and patch repairs on concrete roads, harbours and airport pavements.
Why use it?
It reaches 40–45 MPa within a day and up to 100 MPa at 28 days, so plant and equipment can be aligned, grouted and commissioned on tight shutdown schedules without strength anxiety.
How is it applied?
Mix with 16.5–17% water to a free-flowing consistency, mature for 2 minutes, remix, and pour continuously from one side of leak-tight shuttering. No vibration needed; water-cure external work for 3 days.
About UltraTech PowerGrout NS1
UltraTech PowerGrout NS1 is the precision grouting workhorse from UltraTech’s Building Products Division — a single-component binder formulated with special polymers, additives and selected fillers. On site, that translates to a simple routine: measure clean water at 16.5–17% by weight, mix mechanically, and place. There is no resin chemistry to proportion and no separate aggregate pack to manage, which keeps quality consistent even when different crews handle different pours across a large foundation job.
What sets NS1 apart in its class is the strength curve. Tested to IS 4031 (Part 6), it delivers 40–45 MPa in 24 hours and climbs toward an M100 design strength at 28 days — territory usually reserved for far costlier systems. For deep pockets and high-volume pours, the grout can be extended 1:1 by weight with well-graded coarse aggregate up to 20 mm, cutting material cost without giving up the non-shrink, self-compacting behaviour. Space Arc Engineering supplies genuine, fresh-batch NS1 across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, with application support for critical foundation work.
The technical insight
The reliability of a precision grout comes down to what happens in the gap you cannot see. Ordinary cement mortar bleeds, settles and shrinks as it hydrates, leaving micro-voids under the base plate — so the machine effectively sits on high spots rather than full bearing. NS1 counters this on two fronts. Its polymer-and-filler system holds mix water in suspension, so ASTM C 940 testing records nil bleeding and nil expansion: the grout occupies the gap it was poured into and stays there. Meanwhile a dense particle packing drives the modulus of elasticity to 53–55 GPa (ASTM C 469), meaning the hardened grout barely compresses under load and transfers machine forces cleanly into the foundation. Add a pull-out bond strength of 8–9 MPa (IS 2770) around anchor bolts, and the plate, bolts and concrete behave as one stiff assembly — which is precisely what dynamic equipment needs.
Where it is used
- Grouting under machine and turbine foundation base plates and equipment beds
- Bearing plates and structural steel or precast column base grouting
- Anchor bolts, holding-down bolt pockets and dowel bar fixing
- High-strength precast element manufacturing and connections
- Large-volume foundation pours extended with 20 mm graded aggregate
- Pot-hole and patch repairs on concrete roads and industrial floors
- Concrete repair and maintenance at harbours and airport pavements
- Barrier and infill material for strong rooms and vaults
Key advantages
- Very high early strength — 40–45 MPa in 1 day allows rapid alignment checks and early commissioning
- Up to 100 MPa at 28 days (16% water ratio), supporting M100 design grouting
- Free-flowing and self-compacting; fills congested bolt pockets without any vibration
- Nil bleeding and nil expansion to ASTM C 940 — full, permanent bearing contact under plates
- Single-component powder needing only water, so batching errors are minimised across crews
- Economical for deep pours: extendable 1:1 by weight with well-graded aggregate up to 20 mm
- High stiffness (53–55 GPa modulus) and 8–9 MPa pull-out bond for dependable load transfer
- Tested against recognised benchmarks — ASTM C1107, ASTM C 348, ASTM C 469, IS 4031, IS 2770
Limitations & considerations
- Application window is 5°C to 50°C; below 20°C strength gain slows and extended hardening time must be allowed
- Pot life is about 45 minutes — pours must be planned for continuous, uninterrupted placement
- Rapid chloride penetration resistance is rated moderate; for aggressive chemical or marine splash exposure an epoxy grout is the safer specification
- Water dosing is strict at 16.5–17% — any extra water to “improve flow” directly cuts strength and bond
- A cementitious grout, so it suits gaps and flow distances per the head-versus-gap table rather than feather-edge or thin decorative work
- Shelf life is 6 months in cool, dry storage; stale or moisture-exposed bags should not be used
Selection & best practice
Start with the substrate: remove oil, laitance, dust and any bond-breaking agents by wire brushing or water jetting, and treat exposed reinforcement with an anti-corrosion primer where needed. Build leak-tight shuttering — grout head pressure will find any gap — and keep a vent on the far side. Mix mechanically at 16.5–17% water (roughly 6.6–6.8 litres per 40 kg bag), let the mix stand 2 minutes to mature, then remix without adding water. Pour continuously from one side only so air escapes ahead of the flow, and never vibrate; vibration segregates the mix. For sections deep enough to justify it, blend 1 part well-graded 20 mm aggregate to 1 part NS1 by weight, dropping water to 8–9%. Internal grouting needs no curing, but water-cure external or exposed work for 3 days. Respect the 45-minute pot life: have labour, funnels and chutes ready before mixing begins.

Industry use cases
Power & Heavy Engineering
Turbine, compressor and DG-set base plates where 1-day strength of 40–45 MPa lets alignment and commissioning proceed inside planned shutdown windows.
Manufacturing Plants
CNC machines, presses and rolling equipment anchored with holding-down bolts — the 8–9 MPa pull-out bond keeps bolts rigid under vibration and reversing loads.
Precast & PEB Construction
Column base grouting and high-strength precast element production, where consistent M100-class strength and nil shrinkage protect connection design assumptions.
Roads, Harbours & Airports
Pot-hole and pavement patch repairs that must reopen to traffic quickly, using the aggregate-extended mix for economical deep fills.
Banking & Security Infrastructure
Dense, high-strength infill as barrier material for strong rooms and vaults, poured without vibration into confined shuttered spaces.

How we position UltraTech PowerGrout NS1
PowerGrout NS1 sits at the high-strength end of UltraTech’s grouting range and pairs naturally with the brand’s repair mortars and floor screeds when a foundation job extends into concrete reinstatement. Many PSU and consultant-driven specifications, however, name Fosroc by default — in which case Fosroc Conbextra GP2, which we stock as an authorised Fosroc distributor, is the direct cementitious counterpart for machinery bases and bearing grouting. Where the duty involves severe chemical exposure, high dynamic loading or marine splash zones, step up to an epoxy grout from the Fosroc Conbextra EP family rather than any cementitious option. Space Arc can supply either system from stock and help you match the grout to the load case, gap geometry and specification wording.
Fosroc Conbextra GP2 — Specifiers choose Conbextra GP2 when the tender or consultant specification is written around Fosroc’s grouting system, or when project approval lists already carry Fosroc precedent for machinery-base and bearing-plate grouting.
