About UltraTech Tilefixo Rapid
UltraTech Tilefixo Rapid is a two-component, epoxy-based adhesive for situations where a standard cement-based tile fixer sets too slowly or simply doesn’t hold. Instead of the single-bag, water-mix format most site engineers know, it ships as a resin-and-hardener pair, Part A and Part B, combined on site and used within a working pot life of around 10 minutes. That short window is deliberate: it delivers the very high initial grab needed to spot-bond tiles, glass panels and natural stone onto vertical and overhead surfaces without slipping or needing extended propping.
It is rated to IS 15477:2019 (Type 5TS2), EN 12004:2017 (R2T) and ISO 13007-1:2014 (R2T), classifications reserved for reactive, high-performance adhesives rather than ordinary polymer-modified cementitious ones. In practice, Tilefixo Rapid earns its keep on substrates that trip up conventional tile fixers: existing tiled surfaces being re-clad, metal and PU panelling, plywood partitions, glass facades, and dry-wall sections a cement adhesive cannot key into. It is not meant as an everyday floor-tiling adhesive for large-format ceramic on a fresh screed; for that, UltraTech’s cementitious Tilefixo range is the more economical choice.
The technical insight
The data sheet explains why contractors reach for Tilefixo Rapid on fast-track and vertical work. Shear adhesion under the IS 15477 dry-condition test measures 6.51 N/mm² against a 6.0 N/mm² requirement, and under ANSI 118.3 testing shear bond strength is reported at 8.14 N/mm², well above what a cementitious spot-bonding compound typically achieves. Open-time tensile adhesion at 10 minutes tests at 2.24 N/mm² under EN 12004, comfortably clearing the 0.5 N/mm² threshold, which is why tiles must be fixed within 10 minutes of application; beyond that, bond strength falls off as the epoxy skins over. Deformability sits well above the S2 minimum of 5 mm, and slip is held to roughly 0.17-0.19 mm against a 0.5 mm ceiling, so vertical and overhead dabs hold position while curing. Mixed density works out to about 1.62 g/cc.

Limitations & considerations

- Not a substitute for full thin-bed cementitious adhesive on routine large-format floor tiling
Selection & best practice
Treat the pot life as non-negotiable: mix only what one mason can place in 10 minutes, and keep dab thickness at a minimum of 3 mm with at least five dabs per square foot concentrated at the corners and centre of each tile. On vertical and overhead work, keep clamps or props in place until the 4-5 hour mark even if initial grab feels adequate sooner. Confirm the substrate is fully cured and free of laitance, rust or old sealer before starting, and run a sampling trial on light-coloured stone or mosaic to rule out staining before covering an elevation.
