What is it?

A three-component (resin, hardener and graded silica aggregate), solvent-free epoxy grout from MC-Bauchemie, formulated for precision grouting where high strength and chemical resistance are essential.

Where is it used?

Under machine baseplates, around anchor bolts, beneath vibrating and rotating equipment, and at rail and crane-rail fixings, particularly in chemical plants and heavy-industry environments.

Why use it?

It develops early compressive strength (80-100 MPa at 7 days), bonds strongly to concrete (>3.0 MPa), resists oils, fuels and dilute chemicals, and cures with effectively zero net shrinkage for full baseplate contact.

How is it applied?

The three pre-weighed components are blended on site, poured or pumped into the prepared gap in a continuous head, and worked to fill the void completely before the 20-40 minute pot life expires.

About MC-Bauchemie MC-Grout EP

MC-Grout EP is MC-Bauchemie’s answer to a problem every plant engineer knows well: the point where a machine transfers its load into the foundation is only as good as the material filling that gap. Cementitious grouts do the job in ordinary settings, but under high dynamic loads, near chemical spillage, or where every hour of downtime is costly, they can fall short on strength, bond and durability. MC-Grout EP is a solvent-free epoxy system supplied as three matched components, a resin, a hardener and a graded silica aggregate, that combine into a dense, high-strength mortar built to carry demanding static and vibrating loads.

Once mixed and placed, it develops compressive strength in the range of 80 to 100 MPa by seven days and bonds to sound concrete at over 3.0 MPa, all while curing with essentially no net shrinkage so the baseplate stays in full contact. Because there is no solvent, there is no VOC release and no shrinkage from solvent loss. Space Arc Engineering supplies and applies MC-Grout EP across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, so contractors and consultants get both the genuine material and trained site execution from a single point of contact.

The technical insight

The strength of an epoxy grout comes from how three things work together. The resin and hardener react to form a cross-linked polymer matrix, and the graded silica aggregate is the load-bearing skeleton dispersed through it. The manufacturer supplies the aggregate pre-graded so that fine and coarse particles pack tightly, minimising the volume of neat resin, which is the part most prone to shrinkage and creep. That dense packing is why MC-Grout EP reaches 80-100 MPa quickly and shows effectively zero net shrinkage: there is simply less resin to move. The cross-linked network is also chemically inert, so dilute mineral acids, alkalis, oils, fuels and many solvents cannot break it down the way they attack cement paste. The trade-off is exothermic heat and a short working window, so the 20-40 minute pot life at 23 degrees C is a real constraint, not a formality, and lifts must be sized to control heat build-up in thick pours.

Where it is used

  • Grouting under machine baseplates in chemical and process plants where spillage and vibration are routine
  • Fixing anchor bolts and chemical anchors that must resist pull-out under load
  • Repairing machine foundations exposed to aggressive chemical environments
  • Bedding structural steel base plates for reliable load transfer to concrete
  • Grouting rail fastenings and crane-rail anchors subject to repeated dynamic loading
  • Precision repair and re-bedding under vibrating, rotating or reciprocating equipment
  • Filling voids beneath pumps, compressors and turbines demanding high early strength
  • Anchoring and bedding where chemical resistance and durability outrank cost

Key advantages

  • High early compressive strength of 80-100 MPa at 7 days for fast return to service
  • Strong bond to concrete exceeding 3.0 MPa for dependable load transfer
  • Effectively zero net shrinkage, keeping the baseplate in full contact
  • Solvent-free with no VOC emission, suited to enclosed plant areas
  • Resists dilute mineral acids, alkalis, oils, fuels and many solvents
  • Three-component pre-weighed packs remove site batching errors
  • Carries high dynamic and vibrating loads where cementitious grout struggles
  • Backed by Space Arc supply plus trained application across Delhi NCR and India

Limitations & considerations

  • Short pot life of 20-40 minutes at 23 degrees C demands prompt, organised placing
  • Exothermic cure limits pour depth per lift; thick sections may need staged placement
  • Higher material cost than cementitious grout, so it is best reserved for genuinely demanding duties
  • Sensitive to temperature: cold slows cure while heat shortens working time further
  • Requires clean, sound, dry substrate and correct surface preparation for full bond
  • Not intended for large-volume mass fills where a cementitious grout is more economical

Selection & best practice

Success with MC-Grout EP is mostly about preparation and timing. Confirm the substrate is sound, clean and free of oil, laitance and standing water, and roughen it to expose aggregate for a mechanical key. Set formwork tight and leak-proof with a head box on the pour side and a slight fall to drive the grout across the void in one direction, so air is pushed out rather than trapped. Mix the full three-component unit together, never a part-pack, and do not thin it. Pour or pump continuously from one side to maintain a constant head, and place within the 20-40 minute pot life at around 23 degrees C, remembering that window shrinks in warm weather. For deeper gaps, place in controlled lifts to manage exothermic heat. When in doubt, have the Space Arc application team execute or supervise the pour, especially on critical rotating-equipment foundations.

Frequently asked questions

How much load can MC-Grout EP carry compared with a cementitious grout?
It develops 80 to 100 MPa compressive strength by 7 days, well above typical cementitious grouts, which is why it is chosen for high dynamic and vibrating loads such as rotating equipment and crane rails.
Why is it a three-component product?
Component A is the epoxy resin, B is the hardener, and C is a graded silica aggregate. The pre-weighed aggregate packs tightly to boost strength and cut shrinkage, so the whole unit must be mixed together, not in parts.
What is the working time once mixed?
Pot life is 20 to 40 minutes at 23 degrees C. That window shortens in warm weather, so batching, mixing and placing must be organised in advance.
Can it handle chemical exposure and spillage?
Yes. The cured epoxy resists dilute to moderate mineral acids, alkalis, oils, fuels and many solvents, which makes it well suited to chemical-plant and refinery foundations.
How thick can it be poured in one go?
Because epoxy cure is exothermic, deep gaps should be placed in controlled lifts to manage heat. For thick or large-volume sections, ask Space Arc about the right grout and lift sequence for your gap.
Does Space Arc only supply the material, or apply it too?
Both. As an authorised distributor and applicator, Space Arc supplies genuine MC-Grout EP and can execute or supervise the grouting across Delhi NCR and Pan-India.

How we position MC-Bauchemie MC-Grout EP

MC-Grout EP sits at the high-performance end of the grouting range, chosen when loads are dynamic, chemistry is aggressive, or early strength matters more than cost. For everyday machine-base and anchor grouting where a cementitious grout is sufficient, pair it with a flowable non-shrink cementitious grout instead to control budget. Within the same duty, MC-Bauchemie’s own MC-DUR Grout family offers alternatives graded by pour depth, low-viscosity thin-section options through to low-exothermic grades for deeper lifts, if you need a different thickness envelope. Across our other brands, Fosroc’s Conbextra epoxy grout line and Sika epoxy grouting systems cover comparable duties; talk to Space Arc if you want us to match the grade to your gap, load and site conditions.
