What is it?

A two-component, cold-applied, self-levelling pouring-grade joint sealant with built-in resistance to fuels, oils and hydraulic fluids, meeting BS EN 14188-2:2004 and BS 5212: Part 1:1990.

Where is it used?

Contraction and expansion joints in concrete runways, taxiways, aircraft hardstandings, concrete highways, fuel terminals, garage forecourts, ports and cargo bays.

Why use it?

Ordinary pavement sealants swell and debond where fuel spills. Colpor 200PF holds 25% joint movement, shrugs off jet blast and stays serviceable from -30 °C cold to summer pavement heat.

How is it applied?

Mix the base and curing agent on site, then pour from the tin or dispense with a Fosroc G Gun into dry, primed joints over a backing cord, recessed 5-8 mm below the pavement surface.

About Fosroc Colpor 200PF

Colpor 200PF is Fosroc’s cold-applied joint sealant for concrete pavements that see fuel, oil and hydraulic-fluid spillage. Supplied as a base tin and a curing agent that are mixed on site, it flows into the joint as a self-levelling liquid and cures into a tough black elastomer with no boilers or heating equipment — a real advantage on live pavements where hot-poured sealants mean hot-work permits and slower shifts. It carries a Declaration of Performance (UK9-53) to BS EN 14188-2:2004 as a two-component, self-levelling sealant in Classes B, C and D, and also conforms to BS 5212: Part 1:1990, the long-standing benchmark for cold-applied concrete pavement sealants.

Space Arc Engineering supplies Colpor 200PF across Delhi NCR and pan-India as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator. We see it specified wherever a pavement joint must stay sealed while fuels attack it and heavy wheels cross it: airfield aprons, concrete toll plazas, white-topped city roads, tank farms and fuel-station forecourts. Testing to the EN 14187 series shows no adhesive or cohesive failure after immersion in Test Fuel I and II, Jet A1, diesel, and glycol-, formate- and acetate-based de-icers — the exposure conditions that destroy conventional sealants within months.

The technical insight

The working principle is a site-mixed chemical cure rather than solvent loss. Because Colpor 200PF is 100% solids, the volume poured is the volume that stays in the joint — there is no cure shrinkage pulling the sealant off the joint arris. The cured elastomer delivers a movement accommodation factor of 25% on butt joints with 94% elastic recovery (EN ISO 7389), so it follows the slab’s daily thermal cycling and springs back rather than taking a permanent set. Bond strength to EN 28340 is 0.53 MPa with no failure at both +23 °C and -20 °C, and cohesion holds at -30 °C: the material neither embrittles in cold nor softens and picks up on tyres in heat. Fuel resistance comes from the cross-linked polymer network, which fuels cannot dissolve the way they soften ordinary bituminous or low-grade sealants — which is also why the seal is recessed 5-8 mm below pavement level, keeping it clear of mechanical damage from wheels and jet blast.

Where it is used

  • Contraction, expansion and construction joints in concrete highway, expressway and city road pavements
  • Runway, taxiway and apron joints on airfields, including jet-blast exposed areas
  • Aircraft hardstandings and refuelling aprons
  • Fuel storage terminals, oil depots and tank-farm hardstandings
  • Petrol pump and CNG station forecourts
  • Ports, container yards and cargo handling bays
  • Concrete hardstandings in bus depots, truck terminals and industrial yards
  • Resealing of failed or aged joints during concrete pavement maintenance

Key advantages

  • Cold-applied — no boilers, heating equipment or hot-work permits on site
  • Resistant to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids and airfield de-icers, verified to EN 14187-4
  • Jet-blast resistant, proven on runways and aprons
  • 25% movement accommodation with 94% elastic recovery — no permanent set
  • Stays flexible at sub-zero temperatures without tyre pick-up in summer heat
  • 100% solids, so there is no shrinkage and no thinning of the installed seal
  • Pours direct from the tin or gun-applies; 20-litre units available for machine application

Limitations & considerations

  • For concrete pavements only — not compatible with bituminous or asphalt surfaces
  • Joint widths above 30 mm are not recommended; wider seals risk mechanical damage
  • Full cure takes 3-4 days at 25 °C (7 days at 20 °C), so return-to-service must be planned
  • Service life can shorten to around 3 years in hot, humid climates — build in inspection cycles
  • Needs dry, primed joints and substrate temperature above 5 °C; no application on damp or frosted concrete
  • Black colour only, and packs must be mixed whole — splitting two-part packs is not permitted

Selection & best practice

Joint geometry decides performance, so start there: keep the width-to-depth ratio between 1:1 and 1.5:1 with at least 10 mm of sealant depth (a 25 mm expansion joint takes a 20 mm deep seal), and recess the finished surface 5-8 mm below pavement level. Grit-blast or grind the sealing slot, blow it out with dry, oil-free compressed air, and pack the base with Expandafoam backing cord or a debonding tape. Prime with Fosroc Primer 19 where concrete is damp, dense or porous (seal within 30 minutes to 4 hours) or Primer 20 elsewhere (allow 30 minutes to 2 hours solvent flash-off, and reprime if exceeded). Drain the curing agent completely into the base tin, scrape the tin top, and mix with a slow-speed drill for about 4 minutes; in winter, store packs overnight at room temperature for easier mixing. Dispense with the Fosroc G Gun, or pour straight from the tin on joints 25 mm and wider, then clean tools immediately with Fosroc Equipment Cleaner.

Industry use cases

Airports & Airfields

Runway, taxiway and apron joint sealing where Jet A1 spillage, de-icers and jet blast destroy conventional sealants — the core application Colpor 200PF was formulated for.

Highways & Expressways

Contraction and expansion joints in pavement-quality concrete on national highways, toll plazas and white-topping projects, sealed without hot-pour equipment on live carriageways.

Oil, Gas & Fuel Infrastructure

Tank-farm hardstandings, fuel terminals and depot pavements where diesel and petrol spillage is routine and joint failure risks contaminated sub-base.

Ports & Logistics

Container yards, cargo bays and heavy-duty hardstandings carrying constant fuel and hydraulic-fluid drip from handling equipment.

Transport Depots & Forecourts

Petrol and CNG station forecourts, bus depots and truck terminals — trafficked concrete with persistent oil drip-down over the joints.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ‘PF’ in Colpor 200PF mean in practice?
It denotes petrol and fuel resistance. The sealant is tested to EN 14187-4 against Test Fuel I and II, Jet A1, diesel and airfield de-icers with no adhesive or cohesive failure — exposure that makes ordinary pavement sealants swell, soften and debond.
Can I use Colpor 200PF on asphalt or bituminous roads?
No. It is formulated for concrete pavements and is not compatible with bituminous surfaces. If your joints run through asphalt, talk to us — we can recommend a suitable bituminous joint sealant from our other product lines.
Is priming compulsory, and which primer do I use?
Yes, always prime. Use Fosroc Primer 19 on damp, dense or porous concrete and apply the sealant 30 minutes to 4 hours after priming; use Primer 20 elsewhere, allowing 30 minutes to 2 hours for solvent flash-off and repriming if that window lapses.
How many metres of joint does a 5-litre pack seal?
It depends on joint size: about 50 m for a 10 × 10 mm joint, 22 m for 15 × 15 mm, 12.5 m for 20 × 20 mm and 10 m for a 25 mm × 20 mm expansion joint. Share your joint layout and we will work out pack quantities including primer.
How soon can traffic run over the sealed joints?
Full cure takes 3-4 days at 25 °C and up to 7 days at 20 °C, so phase your lane or apron closures accordingly. Where a faster machine-applied cure is essential on large programmes, ask us about Fosroc Nitoseal 888.
How long will the joints last in Indian conditions?
Colpor 200PF is a high-durability sealant, but Fosroc is honest that service life may not exceed about 3 years in hot, humid climates. Correct joint geometry, priming and recessing maximise life; we recommend scheduled joint inspections and can support resealing works.

How we position Fosroc Colpor 200PF

Colpor 200PF is the fuel-resistant specialist in Fosroc’s joint-sealing range, and it performs best as a system: Expandafoam backing cord sets the seal depth, Primer 19 or Primer 20 secures adhesion, and the Fosroc G Gun and Equipment Cleaner complete the application kit — all of which Space Arc supplies as one package. For large airfield programmes needing a fast-curing, machine-applied pavement sealant, Fosroc Nitoseal 888 is the companion product; for building facades, podium decks and movement joints where fuel resistance is not the issue, the Fosroc Nitoseal MS300 or Thioflex polysulphide ranges are the better fit. And where your project mixes concrete and asphalt pavements, our Sika, Dr. Fixit, MC-Bauchemie and STP lines let us match a bituminous joint sealant to the sections where Colpor 200PF is ruled out.
