STP ShaliFloor TC 2PU
A two-component aliphatic polyurethane topcoat that keeps colour, gloss and abrasion resistance intact on sun-exposed floors, decks and plant areas.
What is it?
A 2K aliphatic polyurethane UV- and weather-resistant floor topcoat that seals and colour-finishes concrete and epoxy floor systems.
Where is it used?
Exposed and semi-exposed industrial floors, car deck ramps, power and petrochemical plants, cement and steel works, and infrastructure projects.
Why use it?
Aliphatic chemistry holds its colour and gloss under sunlight where cheaper aromatic PU and epoxy topcoats chalk and yellow.
How is it applied?
Rolled, brushed or sprayed at 60 to 75 microns per coat over a ShaliPrime 2E primed, 28-day cured concrete or an existing epoxy base.
About STP ShaliFloor TC 2PU
ShaliFloor TC 2PU is STP Limited’s aliphatic polyurethane topcoat, supplied as a two-component resin-and-hardener system that cures into a hard yet flexible film. On Indian sites, most floor build-ups are epoxy: excellent underfoot, but aromatic epoxy chalks and turns yellow the moment it sees direct sun or open-shed daylight. This product is the sacrificial, good-looking skin you put on top of that system so the floor keeps working and keeps looking finished. It bonds well to steel, concrete and cured epoxy, resists mild chemicals, fuels and solvents, and shrugs off the UV and weather cycling that wrecks lesser coatings.
For a distributor-applicator working across Delhi NCR and pan-India, the appeal is straightforward. You get a glossy, colour-stable finish that survives real exposure, in a wide colour range, with genuine light-fastness data behind it rather than marketing language. It is not a structural or load-carrying layer and it does not build thickness the way a self-levelling screed does. It is a protective and decorative topcoat, roughly 60 to 75 microns a coat, whose whole job is to defend the money already spent on the floor below and to keep that floor presentable for years of plant, parking-deck or infrastructure service.
The technical insight
The whole point sits in one word: aliphatic. Polyurethane topcoats come in two families. Aromatic PU and epoxy carry ring structures in the backbone that absorb UV and break down, which is why those coatings chalk, dull and yellow outdoors within months. Aliphatic PU uses a saturated backbone with no such UV-sensitive bonds, so ultraviolet light has far less to attack. The result is measured, not assumed: STP reports around 100 hours of QUV accelerated weathering resistance and rates adhesion to steel and concrete as excellent. Mechanically the cured film is tuned to be tough without going brittle, giving a pendulum hardness of about 195 seconds after seven days, abrasion loss near 40 mg, impact resistance at or above 100 kg cm, and conical-mandrel flexibility of 1 mm or less, so it moves with a deck instead of cracking off it. At 50 to 60 percent volume solids it lays down a dense, continuous film that shields the substrate and holds gloss, while tolerating service temperatures up to about 120 degrees C.
Where it is used
- UV-stable finish coat over aromatic epoxy floor systems that would otherwise chalk and yellow outdoors
- Exposed and semi-exposed decks, ramps and walkways in car parks and multi-level structures
- Onshore and offshore industrial floors needing weather and light-fastness
- Power plants, cement plants and steel plants with exposed operational areas
- Petrochemical and pharmaceutical complexes requiring a hard, mild-chemical-resistant finish
- Transportation and infrastructure projects with sun- and weather-exposed concrete
- Chemical plant floors facing occasional fuel, oil and solvent contact
- Refresh and re-coating of tired epoxy floors that have lost colour and gloss
Key advantages
- Aliphatic chemistry resists UV and weathering, holding colour and gloss where epoxy and aromatic PU fail
- Film is hard and abrasion-resistant yet flexible, so it takes traffic without cracking
- Good adhesion to steel, concrete and cured epoxy or PU base coats
- Withstands mild chemicals, fuels, oils and solvents in typical plant conditions
- Available in a wide colour range for zoning, safety marking and clean aesthetics
- Practical pot life of about 5 hours at 30 degrees C gives realistic working time on site
- Full-tool application flexibility: brush, roller, conventional or airless spray
- Service temperature tolerance up to about 120 degrees C
Limitations & considerations
- A thin protective topcoat at 60 to 75 microns per coat, not a load-bearing or thickness-building floor layer
- Needs a suitable primer and, in most cases, an epoxy or PU base system beneath it to perform
- Substrate must be at least 28 days cured with moisture content below 5 percent before priming
- Two-component material with limited pot life once mixed, so it must be batch-mixed and used promptly
- Overcoating window is limited (recoat between 6 and 48 hours) and demands site scheduling discipline
- Solvent-based with flammable components; needs ventilation, PPE and fire precautions during application
Selection & best practice
Confirm the concrete is at least 28 days cured with moisture below 5 percent, then mechanically grind and clean the surface so it is slightly textured, dust-free and free of oil, grease and old paint. Prime with ShaliPrime 2E and let it reach touch-dry (about 6 to 8 hours) before topcoating. Mix component A and B thoroughly with a spiral-blade drill at around 1000 rpm until homogeneous, then let the mix stand briefly so entrapped air escapes. Apply within the roughly 5-hour pot life at 30 degrees C by brush, roller, or spray, keeping ambient temperature between 10 and 40 degrees C and each coat at 60 to 75 microns. Respect the 6-hour minimum and 48-hour maximum recoat window; the film is hard-dry in about 6 hours and fully cured in 7 days. Clean tools immediately with xylene before the material sets.

How we position STP ShaliFloor TC 2PU
Within STP’s ShaliFloor range, TC 2PU is the exposure-grade finish coat: pair it with a ShaliPrime 2E primer and an epoxy or PU base or self-levelling underlay for the full system, rather than treating it as a standalone floor. Where the priority is a thicker, chemically robust body coat rather than UV protection, STP’s epoxy ShaliFloor screeds and toppings do the structural work and TC 2PU tops them for outdoor sections. If a specifier is standardised on Fosroc, the closest counterpart in our Fosroc range is Nitocote PU Aliphatic, and Nitoproof UVR Topcoat covers the same UV-finish role over waterproofing membranes. Space Arc also carries comparable UV-stable PU and epoxy flooring topcoats from Sika and MC-Bauchemie, so the choice can be matched to an existing site specification rather than forced onto one brand.
Fosroc Nitocote PU Aliphatic — Choose this when the project is standardised on Fosroc and wants a single-component aliphatic PU UV-stable topcoat over concrete, steel or cured epoxy rather than STP’s two-component system.
