What is it?

A 2K (two-component) solvent-based low-build epoxy coating for vertical wall and masonry surfaces, formerly sold as ShaliPoxy WC LB.

Where is it used?

Interior walls of food and beverage plants, pharmaceutical facilities, workshops, industrial units and wash-down areas that need a clean, chemical-resistant finish.

Why use it?

It gives a hard, jointless, high-gloss film that resists mild industrial chemicals and abrasion, wipes clean easily and does not support bacterial growth.

How is it applied?

Prime the wall with a compatible epoxy primer, then apply 2 to 3 coats by brush or roller at 50 to 75 microns dry film thickness per coat.

About STP ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB

STP ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB is a two-component, solvent-based low-build epoxy coating engineered specifically for vertical surfaces. Despite the “Floor” naming that STP carries across its coating family, this grade is a wall product, not a floor topping. It was previously marketed as ShaliPoxy WC LB, and the current designation simply signals its role: a thin-film (low-build) solvent-based coating that dresses concrete, plaster and masonry walls in a hard, glossy, washable skin. Contractors reach for it wherever a painted wall would not survive daily contact with moisture, cleaning chemicals or physical scuffing, and where hygiene rules demand a surface that can be scrubbed down without harbouring dirt or microbes.

Because the film is applied thin and builds up over two or three coats, ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB is straightforward to lay by brush or roller and forgiving on labour compared with heavy trowel-applied systems. The two packs, base resin and hardener, are supplied in a pre-weighed ratio and mixed on site immediately before use. Once cured, the coating is continuous and jointless, so there are no grout lines or seams for bacteria and grime to lodge in. That combination of easy application, a cleanable finish and honest chemical and abrasion resistance is why it remains a workhorse specification for interior walls in regulated production environments across India.

The technical insight

The performance comes from epoxy cross-linking. When the base resin and the hardener are combined, they react to form a dense, three-dimensional cured network that is chemically very different from an ordinary emulsion paint that simply dries by evaporation. This cured matrix is what gives the film its hardness, its tight bond to the substrate and its resistance to attack from mild acids, alkalis and cleaning agents. The solvent carrier keeps the mixed material workable and helps it wet into the pores of concrete and plaster, which is exactly why a compatible epoxy primer is specified first, the primer seals the porous, sometimes dusty substrate and gives the topcoat a sound surface to grip. The “low-build” nature means the product is designed to be laid at a controlled 50 to 75 microns of dry film per coat rather than in a single heavy pass; building the thickness across multiple thin coats keeps the film even on a vertical face and avoids the sagging and runs that thick wet layers would cause on a wall. The end result is a continuous, non-porous, high-gloss barrier that shrugs off routine washing and does not offer the crevices where bacterial colonies establish.

Where it is used

  • Interior walls of food and beverage processing and packaging plants
  • Wall surfaces in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cleanroom-adjacent areas
  • Workshop, garage and light-engineering workshop walls that see scuffing and splashes
  • Commercial car-wash and vehicle wash-bay walls exposed to water and detergents
  • Dairy, cold-store and kitchen walls needing a wipe-clean, hygienic finish
  • Warehouse and utility-room walls where a durable, dust-free coating is wanted
  • Refurbishment of tired painted or plastered walls in existing industrial units
  • Splash zones and equipment surrounds where mild chemical contact is routine

Key advantages

  • Cures to a hard, high-gloss film that resists abrasion and everyday knocks
  • Jointless and seamless, so there are no grout lines to trap dirt or bacteria
  • Withstands mild industrial chemicals and repeated wash-down cleaning
  • Easy to clean and maintain, supporting hygiene compliance in food and pharma areas
  • Thixotropic low-build formulation stays put on vertical surfaces without sagging
  • Applied simply by brush or roller, keeping labour and equipment needs low
  • Bonds well to concrete, plaster and masonry when correctly primed
  • Available in a range of colours for zoning, branding or bright, clean interiors

Limitations & considerations

  • Formulated for walls only, it is not a floor coating and must not be used on horizontal traffic surfaces
  • Solvent-based, so it needs good ventilation during application and full attention to fire and vapour safety
  • As a low-build coating it will not bridge cracks or level uneven walls; those must be repaired and faired first
  • A compatible epoxy primer is essential; applied over bare, dusty or unsound walls the film will not bond reliably
  • Chemical resistance covers mild industrial exposure, not aggressive acid or solvent immersion
  • Two-component product with a limited pot life once mixed, so quantities must be batched to what can be used in time

Selection & best practice

Start with sound, clean, dry walls, remove loose plaster, laitance, oil and old flaking paint, and make good any cracks or hollows so the surface is even before you coat. Prime the prepared wall with a compatible STP epoxy primer and let it develop before topcoating; the primer seals porosity and anchors the film. Mix the base and hardener in the supplied ratio thoroughly and only prepare as much as can be applied within the pot life. Apply the first coat evenly by brush or roller at 50 to 75 microns dry film thickness, allow the correct overcoat interval, then apply the second and, if the specification calls for it, a third coat to build a uniform, pinhole-free finish. Keep the area well ventilated throughout, protect adjacent floors and fittings, and hold the environment within the recommended temperature and humidity window while the coating cures. Always confirm the current product technical data sheet for exact ratios, pot life, overcoat times and coverage before starting a job.

Frequently asked questions

Is ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB a floor coating?
No. Despite the ShaliFloor name, this grade is designed for vertical wall surfaces only. It is a thin-film wall coating and should not be used on floors or any horizontal trafficked surface, which need a dedicated floor topping instead.
Do I need a primer before applying it?
Yes. Concrete, plaster and masonry are porous, so a compatible epoxy primer must be applied first. The primer seals the surface, controls dust and gives the epoxy topcoat a sound base to bond to, otherwise adhesion and finish will suffer.
How many coats and what thickness should I apply?
It is a low-build coating applied at 50 to 75 microns dry film thickness per coat, normally over two to three coats. Building the thickness in thin, even passes keeps the film uniform on a wall and avoids sags and runs.
What is it called now, and was it sold under another name before?
The current name is STP ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB. It was previously marketed as ShaliPoxy WC LB, so older specifications and site records may still refer to it by that name.
What chemicals and cleaning does the coating withstand?
Once cured it resists mild industrial chemicals, water and routine wash-down cleaning, and is easy to wipe down. It is not intended for aggressive acid or solvent immersion; for severe chemical exposure a heavier chemical-resistant system is the right choice.
Why does it matter that the finish is jointless?
A continuous, seamless film has no grout lines or seams for dirt, moisture and bacteria to collect in. That makes the wall genuinely cleanable and is a key reason the product suits food, dairy and pharmaceutical interiors.

How we position STP ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB

ShaliFloor TC 2 LB SB is the wall partner to STP’s floor coatings, so it is usually specified alongside an STP epoxy primer and an STP epoxy or PU floor system such as the ShaliFloor floor-coating grades, giving a matched wall-and-floor package from one manufacturer. Where a heavier, solvent-free or high-build wall finish is needed, STP’s solvent-free ShaliFloor coatings step up. Across our other brands, engineers looking for a comparable hygienic, chemical-resistant wall coating can consider Fosroc’s Nitocote wall-and-floor range or Dr. Fixit and MC-Bauchemie protective coatings depending on the exposure and specification. Space Arc, as an authorised distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, can advise on the right combination and supply the full system rather than a single product in isolation.

Preferred brand · Fosroc equivalent

Fosroc Nitocote EPSW — A specifier who needs a hygienic, chemical-resistant wall and floor coating in the same food, pharma or wash-down setting, especially where a higher-build, solvent-free epoxy or potable-water approval is wanted, may prefer this Fosroc option over the thin-film solvent-based STP grade.
