Fosroc Lokfix E35
Styrene-free polyester resin cartridge for fast, injectable anchoring of threaded rod, rebar and fixings into uncracked concrete, masonry and hollow brick.
What is it?
A two-component, styrene-free polyester resin supplied in a 300ml coaxial cartridge with a static mixer nozzle. It is injected into a drilled hole to chemically bond threaded rod, rebar and other steel fixings into the substrate.
Where is it used?
Uncracked concrete (solid, porous and lightweight), natural stone, solid masonry and hollow brick or block. Suitable for horizontal, vertical and overhead fixings in dry, wet and even flooded holes.
Why use it?
It develops high bond strength quickly, exerts no expansive force (so fixings can sit closer to slab edges than expansion anchors), is waterproof and low-VOC, and carries European Technical Assessments (ETA 18/0552 and 18/0553) for design accountability.
How is it applied?
Drill the hole, blow and brush it clean (4x blow, 4x brush, 4x blow), discard the first streaky resin until the mix runs uniform grey, fill the hole three-quarters full from the back, then insert the fixing with a twisting motion before the gel time elapses.
About Fosroc Lokfix E35
Fosroc Lokfix E35 is the entry point of Fosroc’s chemical-anchoring resin family, engineered for light-to-medium duty fixings where speed of installation and reliable bond matter more than the extreme load capacity of vinylester or epoxy grades. Unlike older anchoring resins, the E35 chemistry is a styrene-free polyester, which means lower odour, lower VOC emissions and an A+ French indoor-air-emissions rating, an advantage on occupied or LEED-targeted projects. The product arrives as a self-contained 300ml cartridge that fits any good-quality skeleton (caulking) gun, so a site team needs no power mixing, no batching and no separate dispensing rig. Each cartridge holds both resin and hardener in coaxial chambers; the static mixer nozzle blends them automatically as the material is extruded, and the colour shifts to a consistent grey once mixing is complete. Because the cured resin grips the full surface of the drilled hole rather than wedging against it, Lokfix E35 places no expansive stress on the surrounding concrete or masonry, allowing anchors near edges and in thin sections where a mechanical expansion bolt would risk spalling. It is sold in three temperature-tuned grades so the cure profile can be matched to site conditions: E35S (standard, -5 to +40 degC), E35L (low temperature, -10 to +30 degC) and E35T (tropical, +10 to +45 degC), the last being the natural choice for most Indian summer applications. For Space Arc Engineering clients across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, Lokfix E35 is the practical, cost-effective answer for handrails, brackets, cable trays, light steelwork, signage, balustrades and rebar starter-bar fixings into sound, uncracked substrates, supplied with the brushes, blower pumps, hollow-block sleeves and nozzle extenders that complete a correct installation.
The technical insight
The single most important technical nuance with Lokfix E35 is that gel time and cure (loading) time are governed by substrate temperature, not ambient air temperature, and the relationship is steep. For the standard E35S grade the gel time runs from about 90 minutes at -5 degC down to roughly 6 minutes at +20 degC and only 2 minutes at +35-40 degC, while full dry curing falls from 360 minutes to about 20 minutes across the same range. The tropical E35T grade is reformulated to give a usable working window at high temperatures, where E35S would skin over almost instantly. Two corrections must be applied on site: if the hole is wet, the published curing time is doubled (a 120-minute dry cure becomes 240 minutes wet); and for best dispensing the cartridge itself should be conditioned to between +15 and +30 degC before use, independent of how hot or cold the concrete is. The cured polyester reaches a compressive strength of 70 MPa, flexural strength of 30 MPa and elastic modulus of 4000 MPa (all to EN 196), at a density of 1.74 kg/L, with a permanent service temperature range of -40 to +50 degC. The design table for uncracked concrete (M8 to M24) is the load-governing reference: drill diameters of 10-28mm, embedment depths of 80-210mm and installation torques of 10-150 Nm, with material consumption from roughly 3ml per M8 fixing up to 35ml per M24 fixing. Embedments deeper than 190mm require an extension nozzle, and holes over 20mm diameter or deeper than 240mm need a piston plug to guarantee a void-free fill.
Where it is used
- Anchoring threaded rod (M8 to M24) for handrails, balustrades, brackets and support steel into uncracked concrete
- Post-installed rebar starter bars and dowels into existing concrete for extensions and connections
- Fixing light to medium structural and non-structural steelwork, base plates and angle cleats
- Securing fixings into solid and hollow masonry, brick and block using Fosroc hollow-block sleeves
- Mounting cable trays, conduit, ducting, signage, façade fixings and mechanical/electrical services
- Overhead and vertical anchoring where expansion anchors risk edge spalling or are too close to an edge
- Fixings into damp, wet or flooded holes where a moisture-tolerant chemical anchor is required
- Bonding and surface crack-sealing applications on suitable substrates
Key advantages
- Styrene-free polyester chemistry: low odour, low VOC, A+ indoor-air rating and LEED-compliant VOC level
- Self-contained 300ml cartridge dispensed with a standard skeleton gun; no power mixers or batching on site
- Exerts no expansive force, so fixings can be placed closer to edges than mechanical expansion anchors
- Carries European Technical Assessments (ETA 18/0552, ETA 18/0553) and EAD approvals for concrete and masonry
- Fast return to service: cure can be as short as ~20 minutes in warm Indian conditions
- Three temperature grades (E35S, E35L, E35T) to match cold, moderate and tropical site conditions
- Waterproof cured resin protects the embedded fixing from corrosion; usable in dry, wet and flooded holes
- Cartridge is re-usable by fitting a fresh static mixer nozzle, reducing waste between uses
Limitations & considerations
- Not recommended for seismic conditions, cracked concrete or fire-rated applications; specify Lokfix E55 (vinylester) or Lokfix E75/E77 (epoxy) instead
- Polyester chemistry gives lower ultimate load capacity than vinylester or pure-epoxy grades; it is a light-to-medium-duty system
- Gel time at high substrate temperatures is very short (around 2 minutes at +35-40 degC for E35S), leaving little time to set the fixing
- Cure time must be doubled for wet or flooded holes, extending the wait before loading
- Hole cleaning is critical: the 4x blow / 4x brush / 4x blow regime must be followed or bond strength is compromised
- Natural and decorative stone can discolour; suitability must be checked in advance
- Load design must be done by a qualified engineer using the relevant ETA/EAD documents, not assumed from the yield table
- Limited 12-month shelf life and a controlled storage range (+5 to +25 degC) in a dry warehouse
Selection & best practice
For consistent results in Indian site conditions, select the grade by measured substrate temperature rather than the weather: use E35T through most of the summer and in hot regions, E35S for moderate conditions, and E35L only for genuinely cold sites. Condition cartridges to +15-30 degC before dispensing even when the concrete is hot. Always complete the full hole-cleaning sequence (blow four times, wire-brush four times, blow four times, repeat until dust-free) using a brush and drill bit of the correct diameter (drill = rod dia +2mm, brush = rod dia +4mm). Discard the initial streaky extrusion until the resin runs a uniform grey, fill from the back of the hole to three-quarters full to avoid trapped air, and set the fixing with a slow twisting motion before the gel time expires, watching for a small amount of resin to be displaced as proof of full embedment. Do not over-tighten: observe the published installation torque (10-150 Nm depending on size), and never load the anchor until the dry cure time for that substrate temperature, doubled if the hole was wet, has fully elapsed.

How we position Fosroc Lokfix E35
Within the Fosroc chemical-anchoring range, Lokfix E35 is the light-to-medium-duty, fast-cure starting grade; step up to Lokfix E55 (styrene-free vinylester) for medium-to-heavy duty and seismic/cracked-concrete capability, or Lokfix E75/E77 (pure epoxy) for the highest loads and most demanding rebar connections. It pairs naturally with Fosroc’s cleaning accessories (steel brushes, dust-blower pumps), hollow-block sleeves and nozzle extenders, and complements cementitious solutions such as Conbextra GP2 or HF where large-volume baseplate or void grouting is needed rather than discrete anchoring. Against competitor systems, Lokfix E35 sits opposite Hilti HIT and Bosch polyester/hybrid resins, Sika AnchorFix-1/AnchorFix-2, MBS Anchorfix-style polyester resins, and STP Vitalfix chemical anchors; Dr. Fixit operates more in waterproofing than structural anchoring, so it is a less direct competitor here. Buyers in India typically choose Lokfix E35 when they want an ETA-certified, low-VOC polyester anchor with a recognised Fosroc design framework and local technical support. Space Arc Engineering, as an authorised Fosroc distributor and applicator across Delhi NCR and Pan-India, supplies Lokfix E35 in all three temperature grades with the correct accessories, batch traceability and on-site application guidance, helping specifiers match the right resin grade to load, substrate and site temperature rather than defaulting to the nearest available cartridge.
