Fosroc Lokfix P80/S80
Pre-weighed two-pack polyester resin grout for high-strength, vibration- and corrosion-resistant heavy-duty anchoring of bolts, dowels and starter bars in concrete, masonry and rock.
What is it?
A pre-measured, two-component filled polyester resin anchoring grout supplied as resin plus catalysed filler, available as Lokfix S80 (pourable, for vertical down holes) and Lokfix P80 (thixotropic, for horizontal and overhead holes), both with the longer gel times suited to hot-weather working.
Where is it used?
Drilled or cast holes in concrete, masonry, brickwork and natural rock for anchoring threaded bolts, dowels, tendons, reinforcement starter bars, foundation bolts, balustrades, crash barriers, safety fences, railway track fixings and ground anchors for towers, cranes and dock sills.
Why use it?
It delivers ultra-rapid strength gain (around 70 N/mm2 compressive in one hour), is non-expansive, vibration- and corrosion-resistant, and tolerant of wet and damp conditions, including underwater placement, where cementitious anchor grouts struggle.
How is it applied?
Drill rough-sided dust-free holes, flush clean, degrease and de-scale the bar, then mix a complete pack of resin and filler to an even consistency, pour or pump into the hole and press the bar in with slight agitation, leaving it undisturbed until cured.
About Fosroc Lokfix P80/S80
Fosroc Lokfix P80/S80 is a heavy-duty chemical anchoring system built around a filled polyester resin chemistry rather than a cementitious or epoxy base. Each pack is supplied as two pre-weighed components – a polyester resin and a separately catalysed filler – which are combined on site to produce a thixotropic or pourable grout that cures rapidly to a hard, high-strength solid. Because the components arrive pre-batched, the field crew never has to gauge powder-to-liquid ratios, which removes a common source of on-site error and gives consistent, repeatable anchor performance. The system is offered in two complementary grades: Lokfix S80 is the pourable grade intended for vertical downward holes, while Lokfix P80 is the thixotropic (non-slump) grade for horizontal and overhead holes where a free-flowing resin would simply run out. Both the S80 and P80 designations carry the extended gel times that make the product workable in hot Indian site conditions. For Indian contractors and consultants, Lokfix P80/S80 sits squarely in the post-installed mechanical/chemical anchoring category and is specified where a bonded anchor must develop full load capacity quickly, resist dynamic and vibratory service loads, and survive damp, wet or even submerged installation environments. Typical end uses include foundation and holding-down bolts, rebar starter bars and dowels for connection works, crash barriers and pedestrian guardrails, railway track and dock-sill fixings, and ground anchors for transmission towers, cranes and tall plant. The cured resin is non-shrink and non-expansive, so it does not generate bursting stresses in the host material the way some expansive cementitious grouts can – an important advantage near edges, in thin sections and in older or lower-strength concrete and masonry where splitting is a real risk.
The technical insight
The defining characteristic of Lokfix is its speed of strength development paired with a fully chemical bond. Compressive strength to BS 6319 Part 2 reaches about 70 N/mm2 at one hour, 85 N/mm2 at three hours, 100 N/mm2 at 24 hours and around 115 N/mm2 at seven days, while gel time is temperature-dependent – roughly 100 minutes at 10 degrees C, 40 minutes at 20 degrees C and only 15 minutes at 30 degrees C, which is why hole sizing, batch size and mixing pace all matter in Indian summer conditions. The anchor’s ultimate capacity is not a single catalogue number; it is governed by the host material strength, the bonded length, hole preparation and the bar type and diameter. Fosroc therefore provides a design route via a minimum-hole-depth formula referenced to BS 8110 shear limits, with worked examples: for example a 12 mm Type One bar in 20 N/mm2 concrete needs about 280 mm minimum embedment, while a 40 mm bar in the same concrete needs about 1365 mm. The practical consequence is that the resin is rarely the weak link – failure, when it occurs, is usually a concrete cone or bar yield, which is why rough-sided, properly flushed holes and deformed, de-greased bars are non-negotiable for developing the published bond.
Where it is used
- Holding-down and foundation bolts for machinery bases, structural steel columns and equipment skids
- Reinforcement starter bars and dowels for new-to-existing concrete connections and slab/wall extensions
- Crash barriers, pedestrian guardrails, balustrades and safety fence posts into concrete or masonry
- Railway track baseplate and dock-sill anchor fixings subject to vibration and impact
- Ground anchors and holding-down systems for transmission towers, cranes, masts and tall plant
- Anchoring into damp, wet or submerged concrete, rock and masonry where cementitious grouts are unreliable
Key advantages
- Ultra-rapid strength gain – around 70 N/mm2 compressive within one hour, allowing fast load application and quick turnaround
- Non-expansive and non-shrink cure that avoids bursting stresses near edges and in thin or weaker sections
- Excellent resistance to vibration and dynamic service loads, suited to rail, crane and machinery fixings
- Tolerant of wet and damp holes and can be placed underwater – a clear edge over cementitious anchor grouts
- Pre-weighed two-pack components eliminate site batching errors and give consistent anchor performance
- Corrosion-resistant cured resin protecting the embedded steel, with grades for both downward (S80) and overhead/horizontal (P80) holes
Limitations & considerations
- Creep of the cured grout can become significant at sustained operating temperatures above 40 degrees C, so it is unsuitable for permanently hot anchorages
- Should not be relied upon where structural load-bearing capacity must be maintained under fire conditions
- For installation at temperatures below 5 degrees C, specific advice from Fosroc is required
- Gel time shortens sharply as temperature rises (about 15 minutes at 30 degrees C), demanding small batches and brisk placement in Indian summers
- Polyester resin and the recommended cleaning solvent are flammable and require ventilation, PPE and ignition-source control
- Performance depends heavily on hole roughness, flushing and bar preparation – smooth, dusty or un-degreased substrates reduce bond
Selection & best practice
Form rough-sided, dust-free holes using rotary-percussive drilling, then flush with oil-free compressed air or water; diamond-drilled holes must be under-reamed and cast holes should have an inverse-dovetail or roughened profile to give a mechanical key. Use deformed bars only, degreased and free of mill scale and flaky rust. Mix a complete pack of resin and catalysed filler in one operation to a smooth, even consistency and place it well within the gel time for the prevailing temperature – in hot weather mix smaller, more frequent batches. Pour or pump the grout steadily into the hole, press the bar to the required depth with slight agitation to ensure full encapsulation, and leave it undisturbed until fully hardened. Observe a minimum 200 mm bond length and verify embedment against the BS 8110-based depth tables for the bar size and concrete grade. Clean tools with Fosroc Solvent within the pot life, and store packs in a cool, dry place to protect the 12-month shelf life.

How we position Fosroc Lokfix P80/S80
Within the Fosroc range, Lokfix P80/S80 is the heavy-duty resin anchoring option, distinct from the cementitious anchoring and bedding grouts in the Conbextra family (such as Conbextra GP2 for baseplates and foundation bolts) and from epoxy systems like Lokset and the Nitobond/Nitofill resins used for crack injection and rebar bonding. Choose Lokfix when you need rapid load take-up, vibration resistance and tolerance of damp or submerged holes; choose a Conbextra cementitious grout when large annular gaps, fire resistance or sustained high service temperatures dominate. For Indian specifiers comparing brands, credible alternatives in the chemical/resin anchoring space include Sika AnchorFix and Sika Icosit resin anchors, MBS (MYK) Anchor and capsule/injection anchors, and STP and Dr. Fixit anchoring resins; for cementitious anchoring the comparison set widens to Sika Grout, BASF/MBS EMACO and Dr. Fixit grout ranges.
