Sika Sikadur-42 HES IN
A three-part, pourable epoxy grout that hits roughly 100 N/mm2 in a single day, so machines go back on line before the next shift starts.
What is it?
A 3-part, solvent-free, moisture-tolerant epoxy grouting system (resin, hardener and pre-batched aggregate) engineered for high early strength under static and dynamic loads.
Where is it used?
Under machine bases and base plates, bridge bearings, crane and rail tracks, anchor and starter-bar fixing, and flowable concrete repair in refineries, steel plants and heavy industry.
Why use it?
When downtime is the real cost. It develops ~100 N/mm2 by 24 hours, so equipment can be re-loaded within a day instead of waiting a week for a conventional grout.
How is it applied?
Mix Part A into Part B, then blend in the Part C aggregate; pour into sealed formwork keeping a 100 mm grout head, in pours of 25-75 mm at +10 to +35 C.
About Sika Sikadur-42 HES IN
Sikadur-42 HES IN is Sika India’s high-early-strength member of the Sikadur-42 epoxy grout family, built for the situations where a machine cannot sit idle while the grout matures. It is supplied as three pre-batched components: a resin base (Part A), a hardener (Part B) and a bag of graded fillers and aggregate (Part C). Once combined in the fixed 4.5 : 1 : 21 ratio by weight, it produces a concrete-grey, flowable paste that self-levels into the gap beneath a base plate and cures to a dense, non-shrink solid. Because every unit arrives pre-weighed, the on-site crew mixes full sets only and avoids the dosing errors that plague site-batched grouts.
For engineers and plant managers across Delhi NCR and the rest of India, the appeal is straightforward: the material reaches roughly 100 N/mm2 compressive strength at one day and climbs to around 120 N/mm2 by 28 days, all while staying moisture-tolerant and free of shrinkage. That combination lets a compressor, press or bridge bearing be re-commissioned inside a single shift cycle. As an authorised Sika distributor and applicator, Space Arc supplies genuine, in-date stock and can put trained applicators on site so the grout is placed correctly the first time.
The technical insight
The performance comes from a filled epoxy matrix rather than a cementitious one. Water-based grouts gain strength by hydration, which is slow and sensitive to temperature; this system gains strength by the chemical cross-linking of epoxy resin with an accelerated hardener, a reaction that runs fast and stays largely independent of ambient moisture. The graded Part C aggregate does the structural heavy lifting – it packs the matrix so the load path runs mostly through hard mineral filler, which is why compressive strength is high and creep under sustained load stays low. The formulation also carries a low coefficient of thermal expansion (1.9 x 10-5/K), keeping it dimensionally close to steel and concrete so bond lines are not stressed by day-night temperature swings. An effective bearing area above 85 percent means the plate is genuinely supported across its footprint, not bridging over voids, which is what actually transfers vibratory and impact loads into the foundation without fatigue at the interface.
Where it is used
- Under-grouting and bedding of light and heavy machine bases and base plates
- Heavy-impact and vibratory machinery, reciprocating engines, compressors, pumps and presses
- Bridge bearing installation and mechanical joints in roads, bridges and decks
- High-strength fixing of starter bars, tie rods, anchors, fasteners and dampers
- Crash barrier, fence and railing post grouting
- Flowable repair of spalled concrete, industrial floor slabs, runways and void filling
- Ballastless track and direct rail fixing, including crane tracks and tunnel permanent way
- Grouting duties in refineries, chemical plants, and steel and forging works
Key advantages
- High early strength – about 100 N/mm2 at 24 hours, so machines can be re-loaded within a day
- Reaches roughly 120 N/mm2 by 28 days for durable long-term bearing
- Non-shrink, so full contact with the base plate is maintained as it cures
- Moisture-tolerant and solvent-free – workable on matt-damp substrates
- Pre-batched three-part units remove site dosing errors
- Good flowability fills tight, deep gaps without vibration
- Low thermal expansion and good creep, vibration and impact resistance
- Reactive down to +10 C for cooler-weather placement
Limitations & considerations
- Pours are limited to 25-75 mm thickness; deeper sections need staged layers with cooling between pours
- Fixed 4.5 : 1 : 21 mixing ratio – full units only, part-mixing is not permitted
- Pot life is only about 60 minutes at +30 C and shrinks further in heat, so placement must be planned and continuous
- Product temperature must sit between +20 and +30 C, which may need conditioning of stock in extreme weather
- As an epoxy it is a specialist product for trained crews, not a general-purpose cement grout
- Long-term design load must stay below one-quarter to one-fifth of short-term failure load to respect polymer creep
Selection & best practice
Success is mostly about substrate and sequence. Concrete should be at least 28 days old, sound, and mechanically prepared to an open, gripping profile by blasting, scabbling or grinding, then vacuumed clean; steel must be blasted to a bright finish. Keep the substrate at least 3 C above dew point to avoid condensation. Set sealed formwork with a minimum 100 mm grout head and an inclined trough or grout box to feed the flow and expel air. Mix full units only – blend Part A into Part B for at least three minutes, then add Part C gradually without over-mixing. Pour from one side in a single continuous operation to chase air ahead of the grout, letting it rise about 3 mm proud under the plate edge. For depths beyond 75 mm, build up in layers, allowing each to cool and harden and keeping the final layer at least 40 mm. Clean tools immediately with Sika Colma Cleaner. Because creep governs polymer grouts, have a structural engineer confirm the admissible sustained load.

How we position Sika Sikadur-42 HES IN
Within the Sika range, Sikadur-42 HES IN is the high-early-strength choice; where a longer working time or a different placement window is needed, other Sikadur-42 variants (such as the MP grade) may suit better, and for routine baseplate bedding without the epoxy premium a cementitious SikaGrout option is more economical. Priming is handled with Sikadur-32 IN, and tool cleaning with Sika Colma Cleaner. Across our other brands, buyers weighing a Fosroc equivalent should look at Conbextra EP75; MC-Bauchemie and Master Builders Solutions also carry epoxy machine grouts we can quote against a specification. Talk to Space Arc for a like-for-like comparison before you lock the choice.
Fosroc Conbextra EP75 — A specifier standardised on Fosroc, or one needing strength even faster (Conbextra EP75 reaches ~80 N/mm2 in 24 hours), may prefer this equivalent three-part epoxy machine-base grout.
