Reinforced Liquid Applied Polyurethane Roof Waterproofing System

Authorized Project Distributor — Fosroc India | Space Arc Engineering, Ghaziabad

Product Overview

Roofguard is a reinforced, liquid-applied, aliphatic polyurethane waterproofing system for the waterproofing of flat roofs, terraces, and podium decks exposed to Indian weather conditions — including monsoon rains, intense UV radiation, and extreme thermal cycling between hot dry seasons and cooler winters. Unlike cementitious or bituminous membranes, Roofguard is an aliphatic polyurethane — meaning it is inherently UV-stable and does not yellow, chalk, or lose its physical properties under direct sunlight. The liquid application allows the Roofguard system to be applied seamlessly over complex roof geometry including upstands, penetrations, gutters, and internal corners without the lap and seam vulnerabilities of sheet membranes. A reinforcing polyester fleece fabric is embedded in the first coat to provide crack bridging, puncture resistance, and dimensional stability to the membrane. The system consists of primer, fleece-reinforced base coat, and finish coat, typically applied to achieve a 1.5 to 2.0 mm DFT. Roofguard is available in grey, white, and other colours — a white or reflective finish reduces heat gain through the roof, which is a significant energy benefit in the North Indian climate. Space Arc Engineering distributes Roofguard for roofing projects across Delhi NCR, Ghaziabad, and Northern India.

Applications

  • Flat roof and terrace waterproofing for residential and commercial buildings
  • Podium deck and landscaped deck waterproofing
  • Balcony and external walkway waterproofing and protection
  • Metal roof waterproofing and coating (with appropriate primer)
  • Extension and addition roof waterproofing
  • Rehabilitation of failed flat roof systems with liquid applied membrane

Key Advantages

  • Aliphatic polyurethane — UV-stable, no yellowing or chalking in sunlight
  • Seamless — covers all complex geometry and penetrations without seams
  • Fleece reinforcement provides crack bridging and tear resistance
  • Elastic — accommodates thermal movement and minor structural movement
  • Available in reflective white for energy-efficient cool roofs
  • Part of the Fosroc India premium roofing and waterproofing range

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Roofguard suitable for foot-trafficked roof terraces?

Standard Roofguard formulations provide moderate foot traffic resistance. For roof terraces subject to regular pedestrian traffic, a hard-wearing polyurethane or acrylic top coat with anti-slip aggregate can be specified. For heavy vehicular traffic on roof decks (such as podium car parks), a specific heavy duty polyurethane or polyurea traffic coating system (such as Fosroc Polyurea FLM) should be used instead of standard Roofguard. Contact Space Arc Engineering to specify the correct system for the expected traffic level.

How long does a Roofguard roof waterproofing system last?

A correctly applied Roofguard polyurethane roof waterproofing system, applied to a properly prepared substrate, typically provides a service life of 15 to 20 years before maintenance or re-coating is needed. The actual service life depends on UV exposure, thermal cycling, foot traffic, and the quality of substrate preparation and application. In the intense UV conditions of North India, the aliphatic grade (UV-stable) formulation of Roofguard is essential for achieving full service life.

Can Roofguard be applied to existing bituminous felt roofing?

In some cases, Roofguard can be applied over existing bituminous felt roofing — but only if the existing felt is well-bonded, intact, and not blistered or delaminated. A compatibility test and primer trial should be carried out first. Where the existing felt is deteriorated, blistered, or poorly bonded, it should be removed before the Roofguard system is applied. Contact Space Arc Engineering for a site assessment before specifying Roofguard over existing felt roofing.
